Temporary Crowns/Bridges

CHEWING
The temporary cement requires about one-half hour to set. Please do not chew during that period of time.

The temporary that has been placed on your tooth is very important to retain proper spacing and positioning, enabling your final restoration to fit properly.

AVOID
, hard, crunchy or sticky foods such as hard nuts, caramels, chewing gum or tough meat as they might stick to or break the temporary restoration.

In the event that your temporary should come off, please call us and we will be happy to re-cement it. If you are out of town or unable to come in to the office, you may purchase a denture adhesive such as Fixodent and reapply the temporary yourself. Place a light layer of denture adhesive inside the temporary, press it in to place on the tooth and press gently. The denture adhesive will retain the temporary restoration until you can see us.

When flossing temporary restoration, pull floss through instead of pulling up, this will keep you from popping off the temporary.

The size, color, and shape of the plastic temporary does not resemble the final restoration in any way.

TOOTH SENSITIVITY

Sensitivity to cold, hot, or sweet is not uncommon while you are wearing your temporary. This sensitivity will not be the case with your final restorations.

It is not uncommon for you to experience gum tissue soreness. If you experience this, rinse with warm salt water (1/2 tsp salt dissolved in 8 oz glass of warm water) for 2 minutes 3 or 4 times a day until tenderness has subsided.

Please call us if you have any questions or problems.
